Almost Winter Break!
It's almost Christmas break! And due to finals we haven't had anything to do so far today so the day has mainly consisted of playing Bloons Tower Defense on addictinggames.com...speakin of which...

Coveting...no, let's use "inspired"
Most people upload photos along with posts on a blog, this is an important idea in keeping viewers/readers interested. I think I need to do this...(and so begins the search for a small camera that I can carry in my pocket for such occasions)

Weekend and more blender
So I have a few minutes for a new post:
This weekend was great, we had our church meal for thanksgiving, and david came over for it. Afterward we took a walk in the mines, which ended up being really cool because at the very top of the mountain it was beautiful and the trees were low, the wind passing through...just awesome. Check the images on http://davidsroadblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/day-545.html for what we saw!
I've been doing some 3d work at school in my spare time, I showed some of my seniors my work and they were impressed enough to download the program (blender) themselves. Here's my progress on the alien:
I've finally got the foot rig to work right...after much struggle! Now the toes bend automatically without having to re-pose them.

Classes, School and the Like
This friday we have to do an opinion speech. Common issues are abortion, gay marriage, gun control and all relating topics. I'm going to do mine on Emigration, kind of middle of the road but I've got some good research and such and I'm looking forward to it.
I really need to get a camera so I can upload pictures to my blog but so far I haven't mustered up the folly to spend the money, haha...otherwise school is going very well, I'm learning quite a bit in our shop classes and practice. Most the other academics are fairly easy, today we have a personal finance test which shouldn't be hard. Our Motors and Controls class consisted of simple wiring for the first part of the semester but now we're going to get into some more industrial grade stuff. I've developed a bit of an interest in electrical work, I even managed to do some rewiring in my Jeep this past weekend that was succesful! It'd be grate to get some books from the library here as they contain a large amount of wealth on many things I'm interested in but free time hasn't peeked his way into my life much this week.

7 years
A friend recently told me that every person changes every 7 years. That's a very interesting observation, as if from years 1-7 our observations alter our assumptions, altering our beliefs and ideals. I'm sure each of us can look back 7 years ago and say we're a bit different since then, not necessarily in what we hold to be true, but rather in things like: Preferences (music, games, food etc.), Maturity, Goals, the list goes on. But it's a very interesting thought, it keeps all things new and fresh!

Summer Goals and the weekend
I've come up with some goals for the summer when I'm home and working.
1. Finish learning Spanish
2. Finish learning music theory
3. Try to learn some Greek (that's a big try)
Those goals are in the making, but I really find them important.
This past weekend we got 10 inches of snow on Saturday-Sunday, however by the end of sunday most of it was already melted, due to the grown not being frozen. Friday when I got home Jonathan and David were watching "Avatar, the last airbender" which was poorly acted and the script seemed to have been written by a 10 year old...it was rather amusing. The best part was Saturday evening, David came over and brought his NES and Jonathan and I had a blast playing with him! We simply had to try out every single game, and the one called "duck hunter" had a controller pistol that you actually pointed at the screen and shot the ducks with...I mean come on, that's a system at least 15-20 years old right?
The weather is getting increasingly colder...which I'm not sure if I like or not...it's definitely refreshing. I do enjoy the quiteness that a snowy landscape leaves...almost seperation from the world and dreamlike.

I'm so irritated right now, I just typed out a very long blog entry and the internet dropped and didn't save my draft...I EVEN COPIED IT AND NOW IT WON'T PASTE. It'll be a miracle if I live my whole life and don't smash at least 50 windows computers.

ASM Dinner Conference
So yesterday, my shop manager informed us of a dinner with a lecture/presentation related to our shop...so I decided to go.
It was a very formal dinner type thing, not my forte. They started out with free drinks, of course, as a non-alcoholic I took ginger ale...but everyone and their brother was sporting a green glass bottle. There was 8 of us at a round table with a table cloth about as long as a bridal gown thing and everytime I got out from it I thought my foot was going to catch and create an avalanche of expensive glass dishes. Thankfully it didn't.
The 'appetizer' was this egg, spinach, bacon bit and mushroom salad with a dressing on top. At first I wasn't sure about it, I don't like hard-boiled eggs, nor mushrooms (EVER!), spinach is average and I do love bacon...however I wolfed it down and must say...liked it a lot. The meal consisted of stuffed chicken (AMAZING), crab cakes, green beans, bread and some noodle cheese wrap thing. It was all very good. Coffee as well. The speaker might as well have spoken in Latin, not to say he wasn't good...I just wasn't really sure as to what he was talking about exactly. I've only been at this 8 weeks...my understanding of my probable future trade isn't exactly large.

Update: Birthday
So I had my birthday yesterday, I'm not real sure how everyone found out about it...I mean I told a few people but that doesn't mean the whole campus had to know. :D
At any rate, some of the guys in my shop bought pizza for supper, so that was really cool of them. After that I went to a Jubilee launch confrence in Philly....no time to explain now because I have a few minutes before my class is over...and I'm typing this on the computer...yes, we're allowed, we covered all the material for the day. The speaker was very good, clear and focused, I really enjoyed it.
We got back around 1010pm, lights out is at 1030, so I got a 3 minute shower and was getting dressed (about 1015...don't ask where the extra 12 minutes come in, not sure myself)...and my whole dorm is yelling to me to run outside...so I quickly got dressed and then ran outside. They had made a nice cake out of tasty cake brownies and zebra cakes...with one candle. There was a bunch of people yelling and saying "Keith! Keith!"...some of them I don't really even know so it was a bit surprising. All to say that there's quite a few cool people here.
6 minutes left...
my friend David has a birthday gift for me, I'm looking forward to seeing it (psst, I think it's a drawing)...I'm really looking forward to going home this weekend! I really need to get a camera or something so I can take pictures of things here. My blog looks rather blasse without.
5 minutes left..
I have a personal finance test today so I really gotta go study for it

An Extended Weekend
This past weekend I took Thursday and Friday off and drove to my grandparents in York for a vacation. We had a great time which (unfortunately) mostly consisted of working on my Jeep...I feel quite selfish about this fact, almost as if I was more there for what they could offer me than to fellowship with them.
My grandpa is a jack of all trades, and more...there's pretty much nothing he doesn't know something or everything about. I knew he would be the man to help me replace my brakes since I hadn't done it before. Usually when I do a car repair I read the manual section about 6 times and then about 50 online articles...usually following that I end up posting on a forum to ask questions. However, I'm learning from the best, my grandpa didn't even look at the manual. We ran into a lot of problems which ended up in purchasing a lot of new parts...but the cool thing is that Advanced Auto takes back your old parts to reuse reusable elements of it and hence they don't charge you quite as much for the new part. How great! It took us from Thursday 3 till Friday evening to finish...granted we had food breaks and when it was time to watch for him to watch the news I would sneak back into the garage and do other things, mainly painting and ripping out the interior dashboard. At any rate, enough about that.
Friday evening we played ping-pong...one of my favorite sports. I'm not too bad, I'm very familiar with throwing some "english" on the ball. My grandma doesn't do anymore than hit the ball over the net and she beat me with this simple strategy...meanwhile I'm flying around the room trying to throw fancy curveballs across the table and with 200% focus she calmly hit everyone back (just about everyone...well enough to beat me!). Grandpa was different, he's mainly the same as I am in the fact he likes spins and the like, he still beat me...then grandma beat him...we had some good laughs though and we took some videos of the actual games. At any rate, it's one of the best weekends so far this year and I sure did enjoy myself!

Competition of Strength
So this week has been normal so far, worked two days and getting ready for a third.
Supper consisted of hotdog and bean soup, but I prefer just beans so I put the hotdogs back in the mother-pot.
I'm getting really pumped to go to school this fall though I know I'll miss a lot around here.
Let me tell you about last night. It was a slow night, we knew we'd put in our 8 hrs but there wasn't much of a rush to get the orders done...between dumping millions of 5lb bags of rejected potatoes and getting into several brawls with the 'cans the night passed eventually.
After being bugged by Oscar to arm wrestle him several consecutive times, my brother, Jonathan, beat him every time. Finally I got my dander up and decided to go against him as well....now you have to understand Oscar, he's 17, probably almost 18, a hard worker, hilarious and fairly strong. He loves practicing his English but we love to hear him do so even more...his combinations of improper verb conjugations and curse words slewn ignorantly in and out of his sentences is comical.
After our second break we had a few skids to finish on "Benito's Line"...Oscar beat me to it and I ended up running the machine whilst him and Jonathan stacked. Stacking is the best, and everyone wants it, (except most americans) because it's somewhat physical and very "responsiblity free". I would wander over and stack with Oscar while watching my machine...we were getting along pretty well for the night. Then we took two videos on his phone of us doing random stuff such as talking and trying to pump out a few reps of "one handed lifting 50lb bales".
So anyway, after a little inflating of my ego I challenged Oscar to an armwrestle...I was a bit nervous but Jonathan assured me it would be a breeze. Rey counted to 3 and then we begun, but no sooner was "tres" out of his mouth a threw all my energy in and pounded his fist to the table. Naturally I was accused of jumping the gun....ok maybe I did, Round 2.
So now we began fairly and it was pretty much a stalemate...for one reason; both of us can hold our position just barely above the playing surface. So I could pin his arm to about 2 inches above the table, but no more, then just for kicks I'd let him push my arm allll the way to the other side of the table, just above the surface...then I'd push his back to my side...and so we continued, neither able to beat the other...it was such a struggle we even had the whole table moving around. (it wasn't really a table, more of a plastic half-closet/cupboard type thing)...we finally called it a draw and walked away laughing...SO that was my day :P!

Manifestation of Inspiration
I've been inspired to start my own blog, as a result of having read a friends blog. The concept stimulates the mind and forces oneself to be productive. I'd like to be more of both. So hear goes, day 1!
-keep up to hopefully hear more about my everyday life and my thoughts and various postings!
